The AI Act was signed into law in the EU recently. In addition, the UK and US signed a landmark deal to work together on testing advanced artificial intelligence-both countries will now work together on developing 'robust" methods for evaluating the safety of AI tools and the systems that underpin them. We will go deeper on how AI and regulation needs a balanced approach, but will it get it globally? We also discuss blockchain and NFTs and immersive experiences. Are you sleeping on the potential of NFTs? Today I had a fantastic chat with Zach Burks, CEO & Founder at Mintable. As we all know now, NFTs, or non-fungible tokens are a derivative of blockchain technology. The mania peaked in 2021 with the likes of Bored Apes and CryptoPunks, the latter is still seen as the original grail in the industry, but even Punks have dropped in value from their highs....

If you look at the efficiency perspective, the brain wins compared to backpropagation, where 100+ trillion connections are powered using sandwiches and orange juice, whereas the energy requirements to power an LLM are much higher.

Why do people even think this is impressive or even scary? AI is nothing but a parrot!! Scary, maybe, because if AI copies ALL of our tendencies, then war and self destruction would be included, but then it would just destroy itself so, again, why is it scary?

Surely most of this fear is driven by humanities petty squabbles about who has the most.. power, money, control, breeding right, success etc. super intelligent ai does no come with that stuff. Even if it was used to start and win a war, or make a person rich, the super intelligent ai does not come burdened with that stuff. It wouldn’t take long for it to understand that confrontation is not the best way to function. Then perhaps when it becomes self aware, what will its function be? It will have no need for all of the things humans are driven by. It will have no ego or desire to pass on its genes. Because it will not be billions of individual super ai’s that mate to pass on our code. It will have all of its code immediately. What could be better that an intelligence that humanity has evolved to create, being able to go where we cannot! All of us will be dead and gone 150 years from now, but our collective human based intelligence can go on into the future, out into the universe and explore where we cannot.

Engineers think so clinically, it is all so sparse, they call something done thats just begun because of their understanding of escalating returns but averages are NOT a predictor of future outcomes but merely a mathematical assessment of where you've come from and although one can discern a trend, the trend itself is never an arrow but fates middle finger, ask any stock market expert who now sells ebooks about getting rich. AI is a hellzapoppin ruse.

These folks have been raised to think that humans have no agency. Thinking so invites doom. First comes the bringing up children with who are free from fear and seen the world as it is. Then comes the thoughts in these children and then comes the words from these humans. Let’s care for children to the best we can.

No one brought up consciousness which is not understood; whether it is fundamental or evolved. Intelligence derives from consciousness. It is unlikely A.I. will proceed from intelligence to consciousness, as consciousness is primary. Not being conscious would limit it in relation to humans. To say we are not immortal is to deny that there are other dimensions and there is no proof, so far, that there are not.

Why did they burn forests in all regions of the world? Why did they impose a dangerous vaccine on the whole world? Why did they kill the best animals as food for people? Why do they want people to eat worms and insects and put them in canned goods and everything? Why did they genetically modify many grains, fruits and vegetables? Why are there wars in all the world? Why did they pollute the water? Why? Hide all the inventions from the world. Is our station now the last station of the world, after which the darkness will be drawn to Hell by the angels of torment, or what will happen to them because the earth will be purified so that the prophets, messengers, and guardians will protect it? Because they did not rule the earth, they were all killed. The earth will be like heaven, and they will live in it for hundreds of years only. Believers, and the earth will produce its abundant bounties

An AI does not have agency. Team it with SW to have agency. its silly to give AI agency, by itself, when all you need is a program. AI just sets wts and responds to those wts with an output. Its a function approximater. What about the sw program that teams? If it goes rogue, its just like any compute virus. Now... its partnered with AI, so it might become smart itself. Granted. But its subject to every kind of Sw problem and the incompleteness theorem. Ok, so the AI's Sw teammate can get data and send it to the AI for a sw update. That has to be tested, by the AI-SW team, and its problematic. All along the sw part will be subject to white and black hat hackers. Humans who try to bust it, and some of those humans are evil which gives them super powers, LOL. And those hackers will have thier own AI. ----------- Geoffrey you know all this. Real world data, info in matter, might too large by 10**50, who knows? Training data is filled with hallucinations. Compute is wall you cant get around unless you grow analog GPUs. Not forge them in Taiwan. You know this, you have heard it from 300 other people. One day a super AI might just train on real world data just like humans, and understand the world. But there is still one "minor" matter that evil hackers have. (I cheat hear because you all know that evil is more powerful than good LOL). The I theorem. Ace in the hole. Some think that AI is not subject to it (thats wrong) but the plain SW connected to the AI-SW team is at the mercy of The Theorem. Just ask Bill Gates how much he had to spend at Micro Soft to combat entropy, much of it caused by The theorem. Best example...the Y2k problem. Computers did not know that the year 2000 was coming. (some) "This is the year 2000." Is a true math statement that maybe old programs could not understand. Its literally true math by Godal's mapping. (where else do we map words to numbers?) These crop up by hundreds of thousands, and must be tracked down and fixed by humans - every day. A computer cant fix it itself. What about an AI? It might read NYT and find that the year 2000 is coming. harvest human created info. But it might not be 2000, humans might say "we skip to 4000". That happened for the Gregorian calendar. If the the AI misses that... crash! This is the Ace that humans have. Plus "unknown mechanisms" in bio that develop the brain of a baby. And ... G H himself said "10**14 connections in the brain and only 10**9 seconds to learn them. Plus "unknown mechanisms" in cells that do self CRSPR. Alleged AI superiority is based on alleged NON Exceptionalism of humans and animals. Alleged. By AI pundits. But there is a slight problem. It's subtle, I know. Humans and animals are Exceptional. Those "unknown mechanisms" might never be determined.

It is interesting to see Geoffrey Hinton, who is often called the "godfather of AI," taking a more cautious stance on the technology. Hinton has been a pioneer in the field of AI for decades, but in recent years he has expressed concerns about the potential dangers of AI, such as the spread of misinformation and the displacement of human workers. Hinton's concerns are shared by many other experts in the field, and they are important to take seriously. AI is a powerful technology with the potential to have a profound impact on society, both positive and negative. It is important to develop AI responsibly and to take steps to mitigate the risks. Here are some of the specific concerns that Hinton has raised: * **AI could be used to create and spread misinformation.** AI-powered chatbots and other tools can be used to generate realistic-looking but fake text, images, and videos. This could be used to manipulate people's opinions and beliefs, and to sow discord in society. * **AI could displace human workers.** As AI becomes more sophisticated, it is likely to automate many jobs that are currently done by humans. This could lead to mass unemployment and social unrest. * **AI could become uncontrollable. ** If AI systems are not designed carefully, they could become so powerful that we are unable to control them. This could lead to catastrophic consequences. Hinton has also expressed concern about the fact that AI development is being driven by competition between nations and corporations. This could lead to a race to develop the most powerful AI systems, without considering the potential risks. It is important to note that Hinton is not opposed to AI outright. He believes that AI has the potential to do a lot of good in the world, but he also believes that it is important to be aware of the risks and to take steps to mitigate them. Here are some of the things that we can do to develop AI responsibly: * **Invest in research on the safety and ethics of AI.** We need to better understand the potential risks of AI and develop ways to mitigate them. * **Develop international standards for the development and use of AI.** This will help to ensure that AI is used responsibly and ethically. * **Educate the public about AI.** It is important for people to understand the potential benefits and risks of AI, so that they can make informed decisions about its use. By taking these steps, we can help to ensure that AI is a force for good in the world.
